While the government provides tuition for elementary and some high school education, students must provide their own desks and uniforms, which can present a financial hardship. The distance to get to school can often exceed 7 miles one way, and the children often do not have shoes to walk, so will walk barefoot. In addition, the students often lack books, and other needed school supplies. At the collegiate level, many struggle to go to school; as little as $350 - $500 can provide a year of college education.
Education was the initial charter for ImaBridge Africa.
The funds raised to date provide tuition for the less fortunate in the rural areas of Nigeria.
Over the years, we have supported about 100 students through college scholarships
We have also provided desks, school supplies and books.
We have provided many bicycles to make the journey to school shorter for these children.
Through generous donations, we plan to provide tuition assistance at the collegiate level to an additional 25% of students on an annual basis (currently supporting 20). We will continue fundraising at schools in the IL area to raise awareness and donations, creating a ‘bridge’ of love from students here in America to students in Africa for school supplies. We believe, it’s through education, we can make a real difference in the future of these students and their families.
